Try Pleco maybe. It is free and does a decent job of distinguishing multi-character words and idioms. It lists what's there as: "If in this world one has an understanding friend, | then the ends of the earth seem like next door. or A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near."

I second the Pleco suggestion. Google Translate et al most often fail miserably at idioms, this is regardless of language pair (though the nonsensical results tend to be more entertaining when translating from Chinese)
