While I'm against beef-only thinking in general, I think teaching works better if it is highly opinionated (same as tech products). Like, a strong Bayesian or a strong Frequentist would both make better teachers than someone with no opinion. The fervor helps teach better I think.

Shalizi is mostly just eulering you, however. "Here's math you probably don't understand, therefore I'm right." It's wire apparent to me, a statistician. His arguments that iq is a "statistical myth" also prove that thermodynamics is a myth, for example.
