This seems like an important insight... "overproduction" I think is one of my own red flags. Though the set-point for "right" level of production depends on the content itself.

A lot of podcasts are overproduced because people think that will make it. The best podcasts are self-selecting, don’t wear their production value on their sleeve, have a strong voice and are niche (a lot like Ribbonfarm).

though i am contemplating your "boring-commute" criticism and wondering why that's such a bad thing; i mean if you have a lengthy period with one entire sensory channel going unused, why not fill it with something

i haven't listened to it in a while (mostly because of a dearth of boring commutes) but it literally does what it says on the tin, no more, no less
