Contra this point, I actually think audio is an incredibly significant and underrated medium. Podcasts are just low-hanging fruit. Audiobooks are becoming their own art form, virtual assistants are just starting to figure out the terrain, "Her" is still an unrivaled movie.https://twitter.com/vgr/status/1084160344669401088 …

Wild guess, knowing nothing about you at all... you're a musician right? And probably have a band?

Wild guess...music doesn’t connect with you emotionally?

Used to once. Haven't intentionally listened to music really for over 10 years now. Vastly prefer silence or ambient noises. If I can't ignore/tune out music (I just noticed there's music playing right now in this starbucks), I tend to leave.

What about other things—When preparing a talk, do you practice it out loud? Do you think out loud?

Very rarely, and it tends to make for poor talks with me. This is why I hate doing short talks (TED length or lightning... 7-20 minutes) because the tight constraint forces you to rehearse far more than I like to. My best talks are 60-90 minutes.

Ah! Very different modalities. It’s hard for me to do significant work in a space with other people, because I need to talk everything out.
