Hmm. There are literally NO engineers in the top 20 mob-raising culture war feudal barons that I can think of. Not one. A couple of pure science types, but the rest are economists, psychologists, lit/culture type people. Either we're too dumb to raise armies or... we know better?

The few engineer-types who are clued-in enough to understand and manipulate emotions are busy being CEOs. Why raise a mob and be forgotten after a few years when you could make millions/billions starting a company?

I think there’s fundamentally something healthy about having a part of your brain devoted to dealing with non-human things like how machines work or applying physics laws you can’t break. It breaks button-pushing OCD compulsions other humans enable.

Interesting! That definitely is a useful feature. Going too deep into social science / humanities thinking, it can become harder to believe that anything is “true” (all is theory, opinion, or comes with caveats). Possibly allows for some ends-justify-the-means behavior.
