To understand just how synthetic your sense of orientation is: close eyes and march in place for 60 seconds, raising feet high. When you open eyes again you will likely be facing a wildly different direction (direction does a random walk while dead reckoning detects no drift)

Try flying a drone with first person goggles on. After a while your head drops to your chest. No reason to keep your head up if not navigating earth on foot.
