Interesting... kinda like Proust in reverse, since he appears to have died at 39. Iirc Proust wrote in search of lost time as a retrospective after turning 40 or so

That essay made me go out and buy Zibaldone! Leopardi has also direct lineage to Schopenhauer (contemporary) and then to the evolution of that worldview to Nietzsche's full blown life-affirmation works.
