I just tried searching for “liberals” on twitter and tagging usage. Rough proportions I found: “Liberal” = Generic godless non-conservative: 35% SJW/identitarian: 25% Progressive/socialist welfare statist: 20% Big-banks-globalist neoliberal: 15% Classical liberal/Whig: 5%

I wonder just how much this particular confusion adds to General dumpster fire state of political discourse. It’s like people having different beliefs about whether you drive on the left or right. Even with no road rage or bad driving there’s going to be high accident rate.

This. The US doesn't actually have party system in useful sense of the term, since parties imply an agenda produced by its voting body & held to account. We rly have 2 institut'l gates, 1 which must be walked thru in order to access politics at all. Lib/con are fluid descriptors.

All this may be true, but then again it may not matter since the one thing they all have in common is that they don't vote Republican, and r.n. that's all that really matters.
