I wouldn’t actually be surprise if hindutva trollmobs are relatively easy to call down upon yourself with a careless tweet. That’s one reason I don’t tweet about Indian things much. Hair-trigger types.

Reminds me of this, and also the hilarious+sad long and tedious boilerplate “we don’t intend to offend anybody” preamble to some Bollywood movies (eg padmaavat)

Oh that’s a good point. I felt that. I felt that the guy wasn’t just picking a fight with me - he was a friendly and supportive follower up to the point he felt I was inflicting a truly unforgivable insult to something truly sacred

Remembering now that I once had a big fight on tumblr with someone who was offended that I was cool with stoners using Ganesha images - first assumed I must’ve been white, then that I was atheist, then that I was brain-addled somehow
