Good futurism cliches are precognitions. The future is often seen in terms that turn into cliches decades before we get the slightest clue about wtf they mean. “Networks over hierarchies” was already a cliche ~2001. We are *just* starting to grok what it might actually involve.

I think the cliche is right about how things actually happen, but organisational structure does not seem to have caught up. My limited experience (in Europe) indicates research universities mostly follow it, but business legals are definitely still hierarchy over network
