Even if it really is correct and necessary to sacrifice biodiversity for human diversity (which I doubt), there’s a point past which the tradeoff stops being worth it, and there’s no reason we’d be able to identify that point in advance.

History tells us that there seems to be implicit (inverse) relationship between the two. It’s all about trade offs. My hunch is that there doesn’t seem to be any technological solution that will give us both.

Also, I very much doubt we're the only species on this planet that tells stories, creates meaning and could reach the stars, given the right opportunity. (Assuming that might even help disqualify us in the long run.)
