A big mistake institutionalist romantics make is thinking tech *caused* the ongoing collapse of institutions. No. The evidence is clear. They've been collapsing steadily since 1974. Tech merely created channels for the anger to flow. The dam burst elsewhere.

You’re forgetting time constants. Those things took years to have full impact. In fact even now they haven’t had full impact. Current reaction is still to stuff that happened in the 80s/90s. Just like your 70s tech examples had impact only in 90s.
