The thing about distribution as opposed to production and storage of information is that it is a two-party transaction. An act of distribution is only half-complete when someone speaks. It is only finished when the other end chooses to listen. They are fundamentally different.

This distinction didn't matter when there was no such thing as "distribution technology" but now there is. And distribution tech is not just the ability to move information. It is the ability of listeners to move themselves.

Everything from "law of two feet" (the norm in conferences that you can leave sessions you find boring rather than stay to hear a speaker you don't care for) to mute button is distribution tech. We understand mobility in physics sense (hence mobile phone) but not in agency sense

Distribution is 2 technology problems in 1. Problem A is moving a bit from source to destination. Problem B is giving the destination the equivalent of "earlids" -- various mechanisms to *avoid* being "hit" by the information.
