There are sailboat people and powerboat people. Sailboat people are at the mercy of the mood winds. If it’s favorable for where they want to go, they sail. If not, they sit around. Powerboat people can sail in all conditions but have to use a lot of energy.
Which are you?

Swing and a miss on the metaphor, VR.
Sailboats need wind, to be sure, but the direction of the wind is *ackshyually* not as critical as you'd suppose.

Yeah I've done some sailing and get tacking upwind. Just keeping it simple for the metaphor since you still can't sail with no wind and direction constrains your path etc.

I've heard stories of beginning songwriters used to working when the "spirit" moves them who need to be trained to "show up" at their desk/piano/guitar on a regular schedule to have any hope of a reasonable output.
