There are sailboat people and powerboat people. Sailboat people are at the mercy of the mood winds. If it’s favorable for where they want to go, they sail. If not, they sit around. Powerboat people can sail in all conditions but have to use a lot of energy.
Which are you?

I’m a sailboat who can be easily mistaken for a powerboat and who is married to a powerboat who has been frequently mistaken for a sailboat.

Swing and a miss on the metaphor, VR.
Sailboats need wind, to be sure, but the direction of the wind is *ackshyually* not as critical as you'd suppose.

Yeah I've done some sailing and get tacking upwind. Just keeping it simple for the metaphor since you still can't sail with no wind and direction constrains your path etc.

People are so mad about this metaphor but it’s great. Definitely a powerboat over here. I can weather just about anything, often to my detriment.

It does? I’m total sailboat and that sucks too.
Aren’t you happy not being at the mercy of the wind?
