How is fear radically different from obey? How were the gods challenged in iron age, exactly?

Stories like Icarus, Prometheus in Greek tradition and similar ones in other cultures date to that era. Fear+obey are 2 sides of same coin I’d say. By Axial Age the challenges had given way to obedience.

That's the Western view of things. What's your equivalent for the Indian sequence? 700-300 BC -> Become gods (Ishopanishad, for example)?
-
It’s the same actually. By become gods I mean advanced tech, which didn’t happen till modernity anywhere

1950-2005 - Post Modernity: Kill all remaining gods (2005: The Singularity is Near is published) 2005-2005 - Become the gods... (2005: Iraq war obvious outcome pretty much puts this to rest)
