The idea of retirement is kinda incompatible with disruptive social change. Suddenly, there you are, old and with limited ability to work, and they change the deal and recode your “well-earned rest” as “ill-gotten gains”

I’m 67 and still working because I like the work and the folks I work with. When I finally “retire” I will not stop working, I’ll just be freed from the compromise bosses bring.

They only let you slow down once you're too tired and/or too invested in the system to make a change. If they actually let young people have money, it would all change very, very fast.

Why do the old have limited ability to work? Is it avoidable? As 32 y/o SWE, I find I can't pull all nighters like bfore but def better at getting things done as I put on variety of skills, most technical, some social, some introspective.
