Fiction writing has a much higher quotient of tedious interpolation/pipe-laying grunt work than nonfiction. Wish there was automation for it. “Describe X’s A to B journey on Map M. Mood: humorous, texture: evocative, length = 200 words.” Basically need photoshop for words.

Does it really need to? Sounds like tedious fiction to me.

Can be, but tedium in writing need not be tedium in reading. Kinda like cooking. Much clearer effect in movie storytelling where pipelaying is much more efficient since it is non-verbal.

Not that there isn't a market for Harlequin Romance/Deathlands-style/Stephen King format of writing, but I would want to read it less once I noticed the loops of formatting, vocabulary, mood, etc. repeating itself.
