To solve a problem P, you need to take a subset of its history H1, and future, F1, into account. Humans tend to reminisce/dream about different subsets of P's history/future, H2 and F2, to find motivation. Use H1, F1 to design infrastructure, H2, F2 to design UX.

Deconflict (H1, H2) and (F1, F2) so they don't interfere with each other. This is basically what story-telling does: connecting the narrative of what motivates you to the causal structure of what actually matters in solving a problem.
