The term “far left” has somehow managed to become reductively defined even within the “far” set of left positions. It seems to now denote ‘trans activists vs TERFs in academia’. Other defining far-left causes like environmentalism, animal rights, seem to be unraveling politically

That far left used to be identified with a central value: radical compassion. Now it seems to be a set of factional issue-centric institutional turf wars (no pun intended) competing with each other 🤔

Yes, this thing with the far left fighting one another over purity and different focuses/causes is only a very recent phenomenon.
