Engineers: how many *required* humanities/social sciences courses did you have to take in undergrad?
I had 3 (literature, combo psychology/sociology, and economics 101).
I’m beginning to suspect anti-STEM activists don’t actually check this statistic before lecturing us

I agree in terms of the need to take more of those courses being overhyped, but in my experience the engineers I've encountered in school more often than not don't tend to take much of that coursework very seriously + basically check the boxes without taking any serious interest

Collateral Q: who does more damage to the world: (1) STEM majors undereducated in the humanities & social sciences, or (2) HSS majors undereducated in STEM? My view is that the STEM-ignorant HSS majors are more embarrassing but the HSS-ignorant STEM majors are far more dangerous.

I think almost all of that is due to median STEMmie being in more consequential roles. But at the top the picture is inverted. Median CEO or politician or judge is STEM ignorant in more dangerous ways.

Requirement was officially eight, but AP's got me out of five of them.
