Writing requires editing your own work. This means rereading your work multiple times...in crappy evolving form. You have to *like* doing that. Very narcissistic. I generally stop editing and hit publish when I’m sick of hearing myself. Not when I’m ‘done’ in an aesthetic sense

I pretend I’m a reader of my blog when reviewing before publishing. Look at ’s workflow: “I write almost everything on the iPad. But I edit and publish almost everything on the Mac” His workflow forces him to focus on writing when writing, and editing while editing.

I believe editing is the reason most people don't write. It is too tedious, self critical, and more :-( 'Good enough' is good enough most of the time. Esp for online / blog content.

I hate reading what I've written even once. By the time I've thought about something long enough to write it down, I'm ready to forget about it and move on, or use the written document as a blunt tool. Maybe that's why I've never been good at writing. Rewriting tweets is better.
