I pretend I’m a reader of my blog when reviewing before publishing.
Look at @mgsiegler’s workflow:
“I write almost everything on the iPad. But I edit and publish almost everything on the Mac”
His workflow forces him to focus on writing when writing, and editing while editing.

I edit in my head then write and ship. This sometimes means I don't sleep.

I do 'Free Writing' followed by one 'Single Pass' edit and then take the wisdom of the crowds as 'live' edits (works well with online, blog type content).

I believe editing is the reason most people don't write. It is too tedious, self critical, and more :-( 'Good enough' is good enough most of the time. Esp for online / blog content.

I hate reading what I've written even once. By the time I've thought about something long enough to write it down, I'm ready to forget about it and move on, or use the written document as a blunt tool. Maybe that's why I've never been good at writing. Rewriting tweets is better.

I don’t mind editing at all, it’s getting the first shitty draft out on paper that I can’t stand. Once it’s there, I usually know if and how I can make something useful of it.
