Why do I champion negative valence term 'mediocrity' instead of coining a clumsy positive valence term like 'partial optimization on an open set with slack in reserve' even though (ironically) that would be the [premium] mediocre thing to do? Because it's more fun, that's why.

Well, there's optimisation, there's minimalism and then there's okality -- the zone of immutable meh. One's okality does not need to be argued for, it just needs to be physically defended.
