Noticed a really crappy characterization hack in movies/tv lately. A lesser character will have a complicated Starbucks drink order. Real characters just drink coffee and it isn’t worth dialogue. Sideshow type drinks a complex custom drink that’s spelled out at some point.

how does this tie in with James Bond's "shaken not stirred" vodka martini?

That fits a more complete characterization as a salient detail. Drink preference is salient for an urbane high-society spy. It’s not a non sequitur.
