I would like suggestions for this list, esp from 40+ people who have themselves abandoned various subjects as being past diminishing returns of interestingness/utility. If forming clubs weren’t itself a topic on my list, I’d form a “40+ via negativa epistemic abandonment club”

I’m making a list of subjects I should stop thinking/learning about because they are neither interesting, nor useful anymore. Networking (human) is an example. It was interesting/useful up to the point of reading 1 book, and writing 2-3 essays 5-10y ago. Now it’s boring/useless.

The key point for others here is not to not learn these subjects though. It's just to learn that first book or whatever – being jack of all trades can help you a LOT in most unexpected areas

Part of utility is potential to create a differentiated personal identity (brand) that’s self-energizing. From that standpoint I am now post-food, post-jazz, post-thisamericanlife, post-coding & post-Japan
