Well, back in Seattle now. This has been my heaviest travel year ever I think. 3 Europe trips, 1 India trip, 5 domestic. And I think that’s barely kiddie-league for the true up-in-the-air frequent flier types. How the hell do they get anything done?

My sister used to run a travel agency, and flying around touring facilities was part of the job. Crazy itinearies for her, free business class for me.

Militant reliance on the status related perks of airlines, rental companies and hotels.
I used to travel 50 weeks a year and w/o being treated super well by those three service providers, it wouldn’t have worked
Also a reliance on the predictably of FedEx and Starbucks helped.

I don’t think I could handle it even then. I’m more of a slow nomad, moving cities/apartments frequently.

My sister's a hard work traveler, says you adjust after a year.

The balance of your work changes. Less thinking / creating more creating links / driving change by influencing. I had a six week period of no travel recently and I was AMAZED at how much work I could do. But I sometimes achieve lots more just by turning up.
