A question for clear, strong extroverts among you: What social situations do you like the most, and which ones do you like the least (maybe to the point that maybe you’d rather be alone instead)?

Depends on how sober I am, with enough wine I love any social situation.

It's so much easier with a partner I know--I can establish background info much easier via back and forth, and then it's easy to zip the thread off to a possibly interesting lurker

social situations: doing sports with friends (rock climbing, basketball, hiking). brings everyone on the same wavelength so convos afterwards are so enjoyable

I prefer large groups of people that I know, so that I can flit between them quickly, and only stop when I hit a person/conversation of sufficient interest. My least favourite are large groups of people I don’t know at all: constant effort to connect is very draining.

Groups of people you know are great but even people you don’t know can be amazing if 1. you are with a couple of friends 2. the people you don’t know perceive you to be of enough value/interest that they are open to most kinds of conversation.

This has evolved for me. It used to be: relaxed party atmosphere where I meet lots of interesting people. Nowadays I know a lot of interesting people, so I like environments where we play off each other to conversationally explore areas together. Can be 1-2 ppl or large group.

Least fave: tech mixer with a bunch of betas trying to front. Tech bros, VC wannabes, marketing gals trying to avoid being harrassed but also kind of on the prowl, etc. Hate that kind of dynamic. Usually the wine is crap at such events. I will beeline for ppl I know or just leave

Like: A group of friends (maybe 10) who enjoy regular discussion of particular topics. Dislike: A party where I have to endure sportsball (or similar) babbling.
