The idea of picking your favorite books from among those stocked in a small town library or bookstore sounds ludicrous today, now that everyone basically has access to a big chunk of entire world’s book catalog.
But we’re still kinda expected to pick out friends that way.

I'd like to keep this thread going. Like Max, I have no experience meeting twitter friends in person. I'd be a little nervous about it. How does that work for the folks it's worked for?

Yeah tons for me. I've lost count. But I have an advantage as a blogger. Provides a context to get to know people more easily. For people without that advantage, I'd suggest looking for an available context like a meetup. Also helps to live in or travel to major cities.

Yeah, stuff like following people on Twitter, seeing they're going to a meetup and then going too. I guess just meeting an individual person you know from Twitter would be very different.
