My generation might be the first to care about fitness and athletic ability past 35 en masse.
My parents’ generation largely dialed it down to brisk walks by 35. Maybe 10% of them kept up activities like tennis or even golf or yoga.

My dad played tennis well into his 70s, only stopped after a hip replacement. I play roller derby, my team competes in national division 2, and many, if not most, of us are over 30. 4 of us are over 40.

Always wondering until what age I can play ultimate frisbee bec my generation is the first cohort. First bec “we" invented the game, but also bec I don’t remember seeing 40-, 50- & 60-year-olds playing field sports in previous generations. But maybe I just didn’t notice.

part of this is also due to the greater availability of facilities that our parents didnt have, no? There'd be like not more than 2 swimming pools or tennis courts for middle class families even in cities like Hyderabad when i was a kid
this' changed now, of course
