This isn't really true, the origin of the @ symbol as a human denotation signifier has been with us since the creating of arpanet - before the Internet (as we know it) even existed. The "don't @ me" term apparently originated on vine: https://genius.com/Jme-dont-at-me-lyrics … so i guess technically it could be attrib to twitter thru an acquisition. But seems sketchy to attribute it thru a technicality.
