What is the primary mode by which you add value to other people's lives, and what personal attributes does it rely on? Examples: Solving problems of type Y /being skilled at X Making people feel a bit happier by putting in emotional labor of type Z

What the hell does “adding value” mean anyway? Shouldn’t it mean “making more valuable”? In either case, the examples you cite are more like “doing things other’s value” rather than “adding value” to their lives (and what would THAT mean?).

what I like to think people hire me for: I am a sort of miniature perspective kaleidoscope; people come to me to try and look at things differently Attributes: Roughly similar to those that inform my dumpster diving - eagerness to chase odd connections, say “hey what about...”

I've traditionally been the "friend dad" who is reliable and resourceful, has some degree of wisdom/useful advice, and can handle crises. Lately my friendships have been weakening and I've been feeling that I don't bring much value to anyone. This is a nihilism of sorts.
