Well, "you guys" is a common way to address a mixed group people. It bugs me. When I was CEO I got letters address to me as "gentlemen" or Mr. Scott. When I'm in the role of parent, I NEVER get that...the assumption that if I'm in a role of authority I must be a man is striking.

Yes. The ironies are compounding. liberal Californians insist on using the biased you guys and refuse to use the neutral "you all" for fear of sounding like a southerner --now not only reinforcing bias but make all kinds of unfair assumptions about a region. sexism + regionalism
