Referring to yourself in the third person is a sign that you’re socially dead and trying to bootstrap back into life. Think of characters in fiction who do it, like Gollum/Sméagol. Any other good examples?

I don't know where this falls, exactly, but I tend to write, especially in my program documentation, from a first person plural perspective, even if I know good and well I'm the only one who will ever read it. Does that read weird?

nah I do that because "we" is either me and the computer, or me and the computer and the user of my library
