American passports. Still in scoping stage. Brief visits are easy but work visas... not so much.

Many places will allow at least 3 months uninterrupted, then a weekend away and you're good for another 3 months. But if you make it a habit, and you're caught, you're out. You can have money deposited into a US account and use cards for cash/purchases.

In some places, you need proof of residence for lots of things. If you're staying anywhere longer than a couple of months, it can be an issue.

Take a look at the places you're thinking of moving, and check out expat Facebook groups for the area. They are invaluable treasure troves of info and help.
