While we were busy gawking at politics, tech weirding has accelerated to unhinged levels. As somebody noted recently, we’re basically past sci-fi imaginings into territory uncharted even in fiction.

And it's on all sides of the problem. The brightest, cleverest tech beaver can be startlingly dumb when it comes to thinking about what people will do with the tools you're building.

Meh. Dumb Hollywood anti-engineer trope. That movie was the focus of an op-ed in an engineering magazine pointing out that Hollywood basically loves scientists but hates engineers. In my actual experience in defense research I met zero people like that.
