iirc the long-term explanation of wildfires is that building human habitations too close to natural fire zones leads to over-aggressive control of small fires leading to underbrush build up over years and bigger fires. Is this roughly correct?

I didn't mean to say that there is no climate change or that it isn't a contributing factor. It's just that trying to corral wild nature to abide by the needs of suburban development is going to be a much more significant factor.

Yeah that ship has sailed though. Much of the responsible development happened decades ago. Especially SoCal. I'm still trying to grok this PNW version of things.
