Dominant game-theoretic strategies (where it's best for you to do X regardless of what the other side does) destroy information, since you don't have to pay attention to the game. I suspect in practice, they often have an element of brute force to them.

Example, in Brazilian jiu-jutsu, so I'm told, it is always good for the shorter person to take the fight to the ground. That could be read as destroying height/reach information. What say you ?

Concrete is hard. Hit your head etc. Most ways of getting to the ground involve you also impacting the ground in som way, so it’s risky. Also if against multiple adversaries it’s easy to get stamped/kicked.

BJJ is ground-based anyways. The above is probably more applicable to MMA. But relativity still applies there too. Long reach can maintain distance and throw bombs. But short reach can get inside and do damage. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
