Dominant game-theoretic strategies (where it's best for you to do X regardless of what the other side does) destroy information, since you don't have to pay attention to the game. I suspect in practice, they often have an element of brute force to them.

Example, in Brazilian jiu-jutsu, so I'm told, it is always good for the shorter person to take the fight to the ground. That could be read as destroying height/reach information. What say you ?

Depends on the scenario. If it’s a proper street fight, it’s no good for ANYONE to go to the ground (too many tail risks).

Concrete is hard. Hit your head etc. Most ways of getting to the ground involve you also impacting the ground in som way, so it’s risky. Also if against multiple adversaries it’s easy to get stamped/kicked.
