I disagree. That actually describes subculturalists better. The normie compliance is always minimal, pragmatic, and most importantly, half-assed. They maintain a reserve for the indeterminate next thing.

One inadvertent way of becoming a normie is to train yourself to not want certain things. You dull your tastes in those domains, which ultimately projects a normie style.

I think it goes the other way. The normie brain has blunt tastes and never cares enough to develop refined tastes in any domain. Tastelessness is the natural state. Tastefulness is a sort of safe, socially sanctioned mental illness.

My sense is that the degree of realisation is spread across a bell curve - I think what’s true across the board is that they don’t really *care*. Lots of wealthy normies, for instance, deliberately pay other people to decide on their behalf
