If a NY-London flight cost $2000 and a 1-week crossing by ship cost $1000, (all inclusive with WiFi, food etc, so you could remote work or attend classes onboard), which would you pick for a vacation trip, including family? If air, at what price difference would you choose sea?

I'd do sea travel, actually... But without wifi. I badly need to write

I think an equally important question is when businesses would make that judgment.

when I was a kind we went by ship (QE2) to US, but that was to live there for nine months we could take more luggage. But before the oil shock.

A family vacation would be to see London, not water.

Flight. You’re substituting a week of freedom and much of your productivity for money. I’d personally not do the ship if it paid me.

If time is not a factor, ALWAYS take the ship.
Spending time out at sea is amazing.

I crossed the Atlantic both ways on Cunard liners in the 60's as a kid. Unforgettable. Aside from price differences, the rhythm of days at sea encourages meditation on the larger picture (granted, I was 9, so there wasn't a lot of that for me, but I remember feeling at peace).

Simple solution: Ask wife what she wants to do. Do that.
