It was actually 300k I think They can afford to moat schmoes like me out. Well-paid salaried tenants are plentiful thanks to Amazon.

Not just you. It is in the temperature data. We’re planning to move to some hotter city where AC is standard.

As lovely as Seattle is, there are massive blind spots. For instance, the lack of HID and LED lightning in cars. I barely saw any modern lighting until people starting buying Teslas. It is a still a backwater in some ways. Not quite Vancouver level yet.

Maybe you don’t have AC, but if you live in an area where you don’t need to drive, that’s pretty sweet! And hey, with low car usage, all you have to do to join the future is emit *high scotopic* light with your eyes. Plato 2030 ;) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emission_theory_(vision) …

You know how to live, Justin! What’s your choice of ebike, may I ask? Last time I had a gig in PDX, I rented one for a week. I loved it so much, I ended up renting it for 2 months. Should’ve just bought the thing. hahaha I also remember the Nuvinci shifter being badass

After moving just north enough that AC is nonstandard, getting a portable one (with wheels and a window hose) remains one of my best purchases

That’s a good idea, although a sad hack at Seattle’s overheated rent prices. Getting a good IQ Air air filter unit to take care of PM2.5 and VOCs is another good move for making your own epigenetically sound environment.

Yeah, unless you can buy a $1M house you can’t rent a reasonable apartment. Ridiculous! Seattle went insane during the summer of 2015 when the new min wage was announced & Amazon bought up South Lake Union. Rent seekers more than ate up all gains, and it became a non-viable city

Sounds like an opportunity to start an urban co-housing group. Pool resources to buy/build condos/rentals.
