...before you say that's not getting social issues, that's more self-help. Tech leaders should be able to confront personal existential issues publicly in order to even beging getting social issues, en-masse.

Richard Stallman is a good example of understanding tech through a social-issues lens (though one cemented in the early 70s). An understanding of social issues is probably incompatible with a full & easy embrace of the commerce model (unless yr Jobs)
