Actually yeah, parallels there too. On paper, in 17th/18th c, Asian powers were more powerful than colonizers in economic terms. But Europe was ahead on 1-2 things that mattered. Russia is economically a non-entity now, but is ahead on 1-2 things that matter, like cyberwarfare

It's not hacking skill that is actually relevant here. All the good tech and skills are on the US side. It's the political culture of deploying those skills within a doctrine that is willing to do things others aren't. Stuxnet reveals a very different doctrine at work on US side
