the older half of the millennial generation (born in the 80s, like me) are the new lost generation. this is the cohort most impacted by the 2008 crash.

One does not simply “pick” the Lost gen. By Strauss-Howe theory, Lost and GenX are similar under nomad/awakening culture. GenZ goes with Silents. Millennials with Greatest. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strauss–Howe_generational_theory#Nomad …pic.twitter.com/xF3UGX30vQ

1) that implies a big fucking war is coming and I wish you wouldn't (leave me to my hopeful delusions) 2) my generation is cut in half. 80's born is very different than 90's born. we older Millennials do not have the same generational characteristics as the younger half.

the two big generational shaping events that I'm thinking of are the emergence of the internet (mid 90s) and the 2008 crash/great recession. older cohort had a childhood pre-internet and got nailed by the crash. younger cohort born into internet age, too young for crash to hurt

the intra-generational dynamics are very noticeable and I would argue that the emergence of the internet was such a radical event that it actually truncated the 80's born generation and really we have two different gens incorrectly bundled into Millennial label

We will call 1980-89 millennium falcons and 90-00 millennium eagles
