Small example of solopreneur microeconomics: I pay for both quickbooks and freshbooks because doing my own invoicing is cheaper and simpler than having my book-keeper do it via quickbooks. I could use quickbooks myself but it is janky enough I prefer freshbooks

A lot of paying for software in solopreneur work is because you can't yet afford to pay people to do it. I run my stuff on at least 20 SaaS things, of which about 13 are paid.

Which process/SaaS is the most painful to use and which would you throw unlimited money at to fix?

None of them. Most of the pain comes from elsewhere, not software

I use Mint to track expenses and payments (not double entry, but dont need it) and Invoicely for invoices (not tied to Mint, but don’t need that), HubSpot CRM and Drift (for instant convos on my website). All free.
