I would very strongly appreciate if you linked any lists like this — or any “now reading” lists you’ve seen in the wild.
I want to productize this format, so want lots of good examples

How do you plan to productize this?
I would like a wordpress plugin that creates this page and allows me to arbitrarily move items across arbitrarily labeled/styled boxes (my pipeline stage names won't work for everybody)

I'm picturing a Kanban-style board, is that in the ballpark of the UI you're thinking of?

Implementation is a more complicated subject and involves a lot of fancy-dancy decentralized data model stuff that you probably hate :p. Just soliciting “your ideal UI” thoughts for now.

No Kanban would not work for me. My use case is to actually display in a compact format, with active affiliate links, for others to browse, not track my own reading. I need very dense packing showing like a couple of hundred books on 1 page.

Dense packing is a very fruitful idea, and often overlooked in compendium-style content. Churning on a lot of ideas right now, thanks.
