So much this. The nation state is pretty new really but we act like it’s the eternal way of things. Semi related - Napoleon called himself “Emperor” because it was much more progressive democratic sounding than “King”

Yup. Growing up, the Eastern Block seemed like the eternal bad-guys, having existed for decades from before my birth. I think the accepted dominant narratives of today are on their way out.
