I generally follow people when their timeline isn't garbage. If they have a clever tweet but generally boost noise, I'm out.

i imagine most of your followers follow you because of (good tweet), so the poll is probably skewed. i think people use twitter for all categories listed but primarily cluster in one of them.

I mostly try to follow the super-insightful types, the bizarrely funny types, a few folks I know in person,and other ag practitioners, especially conventional farmers and ranchers since their perspective is the one I'm least likely to encounter in my bubble

I’m in the other camp and the most likely reason I follow a new account is to be expand my filter bubble by following people with almost no overlap to my personal experience
