Finishing stories is so much harder than ending them. I think because the former is natural and just fictionalized real life, but the latter takes an ability to imagine improbable convergences and closures. Reality is 100% straggling loose ends and uncollected garbage.

My current thinking: When in doubt, end with fanservice and give most of your characters what they want, or something they’re okay with in lieu of that. Update/resolve loose ends & call if a night. This is suboptimal but a decent-ish rule for when you don’t know what you’re doing
