~1850s - 1930s: social darwinism, authoritarian high modernism, eugenics
~1930s - 1990s: socioeconomic policy (keynesian, welfare, friedmanite...)
~1990s - : psychology hacking in computer interactions

Anti-alcohol campaigns were also important 1850-1930. Civil War did some engineering too.
